HYDERABAD: The much-awaited Rs. 1 lakh car from the stable will be showcased at Asias biggest automobile exhibition, Auto Expo, scheduled to commence on January 10.
Some 30 new models of vehicles, including concept car A-Star and Splash of Maruti-Suzuki, sports utility vehicle Touareg from Volkswagen and compact car Jazz from Honda, will be displayed there.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, chairman of the Andhra Pradesh chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Pradeep Dhobale, said that over 2,000 participants were expected to take part, against 1,200 exhibitors in 2006.
Some big-ticket investment announcements by domestic and global players were expected at the show. Introduction of hybrid cars and vehicles of alternative fuel technologies and battery-operated vehicles would be a major attraction at the show. The week-long ninth Auto Expo, which will be Asias largest show in terms of space, will be kickstarted on January 10.
The show will be organised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India, apart from the CII.
The auto expo, for the first time, will have sector-specific pavilions like accessories and car dÃ(c)cor, diesel city, garage equipment, robotics and automation.
