A batch of new superminis are on their way from the Volkswagen Group, and we've got a sneak preview of how they're all going to look.
The VW Group includes brands such as VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda. Our gallery of images show how the platform will be put to good use carrying a whole range of superminis, including coupe-styled three-door versions and a new convertible.
Skoda is tipped to be the first of the group to use the new supermini platform when the next-generation Fabia goes on sale next year.
We've already revealed the car in earlier computer-generated images, but these updated pictures give an even more accurate impression of how the Roomster-styled car will look.
Volkswagen is next in line with new versions of the Polo arriving in showrooms in 2008.
Look in the gallery to see how it's expected to adopt coupe-style lines on the three-door model in the same way as the new Vauxhall Corsa has. A soft-top convertible version is also being considered for launch in 2009.
The Seat Ibiza is probably last in the queue for the platform, but it should also go on sale by the end of 2008. The Leon and Altea's dramatic swooping crease, which runs from the front wheel arch to the back of the car, is sure to be a feature.
The same windscreen wiper design as in the Leon and Altea, where they wipers are stored upright in the A-pillars when not in use, could also be used.
• The new supermini platform could be put to work outside the Volkswagen fold. Chrysler is talking to the manufacturer about using it for its own supermini, based around the Hornet concept car. If talks go well, this could be on sale by 2009.
