ZURICH, Switzerland — Opel's first crossover will be built on the same platform as the upcoming Saturn Outlook, company sources say.
Despite the news, the company notes the Saturn will be out far in advance of the Opel. The Opel model spun off from GM's Lambda platform is expected to be launched in 2009, with features that are said to combine the best of SUVs, minivans and crossovers. All-wheel drive is said to be a possibility, according to a report in AutoWeek.
The eight-seat Saturn Outlook will arrive much earlier than its Opel equivalent, likely next year.
Further collaborations between GM's Opel and Saturn brands include the planned spin-off of the Saturn Ion successor from the Opel Astra economy vehicle.
