Mazda Motor Corp. says Joseph Bakaj, senior managing executive officer in charge of research and development, will return to parent Ford Motor Co., clearing the way for Seita Kanai, managing executive officer vehicle development and technical affairs, to succeed him.
A. Kumar Galhotra will join Mazda from Ford, to assume the post of executive officer and general manager responsible for the Program Management Div.
Mazda also launches its freshened Atenza and new Mazdaspeed Atenza in Japan. The vehicle features a revised exterior and interior, with a 5-speed automatic transmission available across all trim levels, while a 6-speed manual replaces the previous 5-speed as standard fare.
Pricing on the refreshed Atenza starts at ¥1,932,000 ($17,740), while the Mazdaspeed version carries a ¥3,024,000 ($27,767) base price.
