Mahindra Scorpio 2.6 DX - Fuel Efficiency

You win some, lose some.

Take your pick as to what you want to live with and you will not be shocked. Performance is the mantra everyone at OVERDRIVE but our social responsibility also keeps us focused on how to stretch the fuel rupee. The bulk, the huge frontal area and the height plus the near two-tonne weight - typical SUV impediments - make the Scorpio flunk in the fuel consumption test, but just about. With Aspi Bhathena at the controls, the Scorpio returned an 8.1kmpl reading during our flat-out runs and acceleration tests but on the highway in cruise mode it was strumming along at a pleasing 14.6kmpl, not bad by any means. However in our typical city traffic conditions, it was returning between 8.8 and 9kmpl which also is not bad. A 55-litre fuel tank gives it a decent 600km plus range.
