Road Test: Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 INVEX

The Lancer 1.8 INVEX is definitely an improved car, certainly what HM needs to revitalise flagging sales. This is however a car that should have made its advent a few year ago. In fact sales have slumped so low that HM is now going to manufacture just 1500 units of the same and then follow that up as and when the demands rise, which given time should be seeing a positive rate of growth since this car is so competent in all she does. On the flip side both the interiors and exteriors are too familiar and in a market constantly seeing newer models cropping up by the dozen this does not bode well for the Lancer. At Rs 10.12 lakh on-road Mumbai, the Lancer is priced on the higher side and it should have come packaged with ABS, airbags and a larger set of wheels and tyres to enhance the handling and ride quality. Which will in no short order make it shine among the current crop of 1.8-ers and truly give it a new lease on life.
