| Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 INVEX - Handling & Braking | ||||||||||
Fat
cat pleaser!
The original Lancer owed much of its success to offering a plush ride quality since its class of buyers demanded exactly that. It was only later that harsher demands were made on it thanks to increasing awareness of various suspension set-up characteristics and their relevance to driving skills and performance of the car. Nothing
has been firmed up in the suspension department and though the ride
quality is good the car feels wallowy. The ride too has suffered with
the tyre profile now being lowered to 170/80 section on the same 13"
wheels. This also means that you approach speed-breakers with caution.
The combination of a soft rear suspension and low 175mm ground clearance
(as opposed to the 185mm GC in the 1.5 Lancer) results in the underbelly
scraping speed-breakers irrespective of load quotient. |
