Exhilarating.
With
152 PS of power under your right foot and a power to weight ratio
of 118.75PS/ton the TT goes, and goes like stink. First gear engaged,
ESP on and she will hit 60kmph in 4.46sec and she?s still in first
gear at this point. Using the delightfully short and precise gearshift
to up-shift at the 6750rpm redline she?ll rocket her way to 100kmph
in 8.96sec, still in second gear and running out of revs only at 108kmph.
Snick it into third and the relentless acceleration continues, 150kmph
coming up in 20.51sec at which point we shift up to fourth. Fourth
gear is good for 190kmph while she will max out at 215kmph in fifth
gear.
In-gear
acceleration is also phenomenal. Squeeze the throttle hard and the
TT lunges forward provided the revs are above 2000rpm. The 40-100kmph
roll-on test took just 9.12sec while in fifth gear the same test took
14.03sec, a testimony to the brilliant tractability of the turbo-charged
engine. Turbo lag is insignificant and above 2000rpm a subdued turbo
whistle and muffled exhaust roar accompanies the shattering acceleration.
Shattering - how else do you quantify a 15.66sec quarter mile drag
and a standing kilometre in 30.41sec sound?
