| Quite
a frugal powerhouse!
After the first road tests where this engine figured - in that of
the Palio 1.6 - we had given up any of the cars powered by this same
engine being fuel efficient. Thus when the Siena 1.6 returned decent
fuel consumption figures, we were pleasantly surprised. The in-town
fuel consumption of under 8kmpl was quite worrying in the case of
the Palio 1.6 GTX. But since then the Siena 1.6, which is powered
by the same engine, went over nine kilometres to a litre of fuel in
the city and the fuel efficiency test carried out on the Adventure
achieved a similar result. With the estate returning nearly 16kmpl
on the highway, the combined fuel efficiency figure works out to an
impressive 12.55kmpl.
I must hasten to add that most of the cars we get for road tests barely
have a few hundred kilometres on their odometers. The fuel efficiency
of the cars is bound to increase once they have been run in properly
and serviced the first couple of times.
With a fuel tank capacity of 51 litres the range of the Adventure
is a respectable 640km.
