can a poor mortal do? From the moment you lay your eyes on her, she asks
for it - and gives you such a high that you go craving to give her some
more. If the C-class saloon is the Julia Roberts (pretty, charming, sweet)
of Hollywood, then the Sports Coupe is the Angelina Jolie (outrageous,
provocative, sexy), says Yogendra Pratap after his week-long fling with
the beauty.
Any takers for guessing the company with the largest number of models
on Indian roads? You should be forgiven if you come up with Maruti Udyog
Ltd. For, believe it or not, DaimlerChrysler India will soon be putting
its ninth different car up for sale in its showrooms in India. And no,
here I am definitely not talking about cars of the same model range with
even a totally different engine, but of entirely different model ranges
altogether. A couple of years back who would have thought that the company
having the largest number of variants on Indian roads would be DaimlerChrysler
and all its cars would be badged Mercedes-Benz?
But things did take a turn for the good for the then Mercedes-Benz India
Ltd, as well as for us motoring journos and the auto loving public of
the country; the company's fortunes did a quick turnaround and the company
adopted a very proactive approach, launching model after model, either
by assembling them in India or through the CBU route and has today the
largest number of models either on the roads of India or undergoing homologation
with the concerned authorities (read ARAI).
This is also the ninth road test of a Merc by OVERDRIVE and the one I
have enjoyed the most. Read on to find out why this car has meant more
fun than even the E or the S-class cars, which we raved on ad infinitum.
