| Message: | Hi everybody, next week end I am planning to go to Mahabaleswar with my wife and infant daughter. I am palanning to travel from Mumbai to Mahabaleswar( around 250 km one way) in my Maruti 800 AC. The entire journey will be covered during the daytime only. Will it be practical and safe for us to go by M 800? Also, how much time it may take? Your advice is needed. Thnx, Purnendu Bagchi |

| Reply 11 | If you drive carefully and follow the highway rules i dont see why u wont be able to drive a 800. when i was in India i did twice 1400kms on my suzuki bike samurai from delhi to badrinath and then while returning from there to karnprayag to ranikhet almora to nainital to moradabad and back to delhi.. so if a bike can go all that distance 80% too which were high mountains so im sure u can manage a short distance in a car. all the best!! |

| Reply 12 | There is no problem with reliabillty of the car . it can go anywhere. only problem is safety. if you meet with an accident it can be very bad . you will have to be extremly cautious and ensure that u avoid any collision with any vehicle and cows and buffaloes included

| Reply 13 | Don't worry - I have travelled to Chennai from Pune on my M800 - without a single hiccup on the way = 1300kms, and it did not even ask for a coolant top up! You can easily go to M'war. There are two routes - one via Pune (NH4) & the other via Konkan route (Poladpur). NH4 & Expressway is better - roads are wider. I travelled there recently (Dec. 05 on my Palio 1.2) and saw plenty of M800's on my way. As there are only two of you - it should not be a problem. Avoid night travel. Get your car serviced properly and check all the rubber parts, hoses, belts etc. Check the spare tyre also. On M800 there is no power steering - so be prepared for some pain on the shoulders! |
