| Message: | Hi everybody, next week end I am planning to go to Mahabaleswar with my wife and infant daughter. I am palanning to travel from Mumbai to Mahabaleswar( around 250 km one way) in my Maruti 800 AC. The entire journey will be covered during the daytime only. Will it be practical and safe for us to go by M 800? Also, how much time it may take? Your advice is needed. Thnx, Purnendu Bagchi |

| Reply 8 | | Thnx everybody for your reply.Mine is Jan,2003 car covered 10k+ km. Originally a standard one , AC retro fitted.I donot plan to use the AC in the ghat section. My prime concern is only the reliability of 800 for such trips where ghat sections are involved. |

| Reply 10 | | During my father's time, we used to go long distances in India, including hill stations, in an ancient Morris Oxford... never any problems. Later, the trips were in Ambassadors and Premiers. Still no problems. When Maruti 800 came, it was seen as the most reliable and popular vehicle of that time. Leave alone Mahabaleshwar, it has even scaled some Himalayan heights. So, it is not the question of reliability of the 800, but its condition. If your vehicle is in good condition, it would be smooth sailing all the way. Bon voyage! |
