USED OR NEW CAR

Deciding
whether to buy a new or used vehicle is a debatable issue.
The pivotal issue boils down to cash and sense. If you
dont have enough cashflow to comfortably afford
a new vehicle, then it makes sense to go the secondhand
route instead.
Only a handful of new vehicles start at less than Rs.150,000,
and that buys a cramped subcompact with a manual transmission
and no air conditioning. Add popular features such as
an automatic transmission, a/c and a stereo and the price
gets close to Rs.300,000. A small car with a dressier
interior, conveniences such as power door locks and windows,
and perhaps a CD player climbs into the Rs.400,000 to
Rs. 600,000 range.
For someone with a tight budget or limited credit, a used
car is clearly a sensible alternative. A larger three-
or four-year-old model loaded with features can be cheaper
than a bare-bones new vehicle.
Buying used, however, is not always as prudent as expected.
The nagging reality is that a used vehicle is more likely
to need maintenance and expensive repairs. Before deciding
which route is best for you, explore the pros and cons
of new and used vehicles and maybe we could help you break
the deadlock.
