Offences & Penalties
The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 (MVA), Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 (CMV), State Motor Vehicles Rules and the Rules of Road Regulations, 1989 (RRR) are the legal instruments for the conduct of road traffic in India. They also prescribe penalties for offences. Some of the common offences and the consequent penalties are listed below
