Miss India Nikeeta Anand is looking forward to acting in her debut film
in Bollywood. And she has plans to buy big when she makes big money, says
P Tharyan.
“I
love luxury cars. Some day soon, I’ll go in for an S-class.”
I must confess
that I had mentally prepared myself to meet the beautiful Miss India Nikeeta
Anand for this popular page when I got an email from her informing me
that she was shifting base to Mumbai. “Maybe you could ask someone
from your Mumbai office to interview me there...” she suggested.
I could feel the world around me come crashing down.
In a ‘man-eat-man’ world, I could not even imagine my colleague
Vardhan Kondvikar walking up to her for an interview with a Don Juan swagger
and a triumphant smile on his lips. I had to act fast. Furiously fast.
Yet another email zipped across and the appointment was mine.
Nikeeta’s got her goals and aspirations in perfect order. When she
bagged the much- coveted ‘Miss India’ title in 2003, she may
have been a simple and charming person with stars in her eyes. Two years
down the line,
Nikita has become
Nikeeta and is confident that all the celestial forces and astrological
predictions will make her acting dreams come true in India’s hot spot
of glamour and fame — Bollywood.
It’s when money begins raining for Nikeeta that she’s determined
to buy a luxury car, of sinking into a luxurious backseat and enjoying the
crowded world go by. “I am very fond of luxury cars. I will wait for
them to come to me. There’s no hurry. I know I will get it,”
she says with a gritty determination.
“I would love to own ultra- luxury cars, like the Mercedes S-class
or a convertible. I am not crazy about cars but am really fond of them.
The first thing I’ll do when I shift base to Mumbai is to buy a Honda
City. The Santro is not really mine, it was given by my dad,” she
candidly admits.
Nikeeta is not too fond of driving. “I am a spoilt person. I have
a driver and I prefer it that way,” she says, explaining that driving
on Delhi and Mumbai roads can be extremely exhausting. She is petrified
by rush-hour traffic but when it comes to driving on a long, clean and lonely
stretches, she would not mind being behind the wheel of a car. “It’s
okay to drive fast, but remember the line ‘Speed thrills but kills’.
Everybody should know the limits when it comes to driving fast,” she
sermons.
Nikeeta is critical about the chaotic conditions on the roads in the country’s
metros. “In Delhi people tend to overtake from all sides. Nobody believes
in lane discipline which disrupts traffic and makes things quite chaotic
at times,” she notes. Mumbai is no different, she says. “This
city is equally bad when it comes to traffic. Once it took me an hour and
a half going from Andheri East to Andheri West. I wouldn’t like to
drive in such traffic conditions. I like being driven around always and
I will continue being spoilt,” she adds with a mischievous smile.
Being an army officer’s daughter, Nikeeta has had her share of being
driven around in rugged Jongas and Jeeps. Though she enjoyed her days in
those vehicles, cars are what make this five-foot-eight-inch-tall lady feel
comfortable. She fondly reminisces about the days after winning the Miss
India crown in 2003. As a brand ambassador, she had to travel to Dubai where
she visited a Bentley showroom only to find the snazzy Bentley Continental
GT being launched. “I was even driven around in it and it was a wonderful
experience,” she recalls. The opulence and the comfort of the Bentley
did her in and now she is determined to buy a big luxurious car.
Back home she has her eyes set on a few cars including the Skoda Octavia,
Honda City and a Mercedes. With an acting career hardly an arm’s length
away, it won’t be long before Nikeeta will soon be ensconced in her
choice of car. With success in Bollywood comes a pay packet as thick as
a VIP suitcase!
