overall, behind models like the Wagon R, Santro and Zen Petrol. This is
due to the fact that Indica Diesel owners tend to drive their cars more
than the owners of petrol-driven competing models, thereby increasing
its annual running costs.
Industry giant Maruti has also performed strongly on COO with most of
its models being quite cheap to maintain. A quick glance at the 'Other
Cost Per Km' chart (based on the combined cost of fuel, maintenance, repairs
and insurance) will show you that five Maruti models - the Omni, 800,
Wagon-R, Alto, and Zen Petrol - all placed within the Top 10. Low spare
parts prices coupled with reasonable dealer charges mean that owners can
keep their Marutis purring along for a lot less money.
