2) The Tanker Carrier does it on the way to the Pump.
3) The Pump Owner does it by mixing either Diesel/Kerosene
or Naphtha derivatives, which are Rs. 10-12/Lr cheaper than Petrol –
Thanks to the ‘Socialistic’ dual pricing Policies of our well-meaning
Government. While Diesel/Kerosene will show up in the ‘Filter Test’,
other Solvents like Naphtha and its derivatives will not!
In the ‘Accidental’ category, you can get
fuel contamination by:
1) Water condensation/seepage into underground Tanks.
2) Rust/Dirt and other solid particles getting into old
and un-cleaned Tanks.
In Part-II to follow, we will discuss how one can avoid being taken for
a ride on ‘under-dispensation/quantity’ and other extraneous
factors that can affect the Fuel-Consumption of a Car.
