Mass Emission Standards

 for vehicles manufactured on and after 1st April 2000

The Ministry Of Surface Transport, Government of India, vide notification, G. S. R. No. 493 (E) dt. 28-8-97 has published the mass emission standards for petrol driven vehicles and diesel driven vehicles ( including two and three wheelers) which will come into force from the 1st day of April 2000.
The Honourable High Court, Mumbai in W.P.No. 1762 of 1999 has also issued directions applicable to non commercial vehicles regarding their compliance to Inda 2000 norms with effect from 1/1/2000. Following table gives the implementation schedule of both the above i.e. the Government of India orders and Honourable High Court's order within Mumbai and Maharashtra (including Mumbai).

The above table, thus, clearly brings out that for Mumbai, the implementation date of India-2000 norms has been preponed to 1.1.2000 ( instead of 1.4.2000 ) by the High Court and the same has bes to be complied with.
