TOYOTA COROLLA LIMITED
Review all variants of Toyota Corolla

CO-ROLLER COASTER
TOYOTA COROLLA LIMITED

PRICE Rs 11.48-12.60 lakh
(ex-showroom, Mumbai)
ON SALE Now

Toyota doesn't believe in extravagance. It loads just the essential features in its cars, which sell like chocolate candies. The First-Anniversary Corolla that Toyota-Kirloskar Motor (TKM) launched back in March 2004 had all those subtle extra bits to badge it as the celebratory car. Eventually it was retained as a production variant, now known as the H5. Then TKM probably could have offered anti-lock braking system (ABS) in the Corolla to throw in some visible value to the otherwise light additions to the Anniversary equipment list. It has been done now in the Limited Edition option recently announced by the company.

The Limited Edition is not a new variant but a clever way of introducing new features and hiking sticker price. The difference between the regular trim and the Limited Edition is around Rs 48,000 across the range! The features on the LE list are extended to all the variants of the Corolla except the new body paint that will not be on the base variant, H1. The LE variant that you choose will come coated with a Dark Mica Red body shade borrowed from the Camry's palate. It seems that red has caught on well with those interested in Toyota's luxury car and therefore has been extended to its younger sibling.
Other features include the anti-lock braking system (ABS) which was conspicuous by its absence until now, insulation in the hood to arrest the engine noise which is rather loud on high revs, a headlamp beam adjuster roller that can be operated from the driver's seat and outer rearview mirrors with ultra-violet ray protection.
All these features except the body paint will be standard in all the variants from now on. Customers are given the freedom to choose their variant, which are segregated by options in transmission and upholstery. These features will follow as standard equipment. TKM hopes to sell 200 units of the Limited Edition Corolla which is priced between Rs 11.48 lakh (H2) and Rs 12.60 lakh (H4). Although expensive now, the ABS is a welcome feature in the Corolla which is one of the quickest cars in its class.
