(I) Fluids
1) ALL 'fluids' have to be changed 'time-bound' i.e. no relevance to mileage.
For example, Engine Oil every six months, Gear Box oil every two years,
Coolant every two years, Complete Brake System Fluid 'replace' every two
years. This is coz fluids once ‘exposed’ to their working
environments or just plain atmosphere 'deteriorate' more with time than
with mileage.
2) In (1) above, you
need not change the Oil Filter too every six months, though it's advisable
as it carries over atleast 200 ml of deteriorated oil with it. A good
idea would be to change it once a year any way, in such cases.
3) With our kind of
Fuel Quality, regular use of a good PA is a must - especially with such
low-loggers. Alternatively, one can go in for the new generation ‘premium’
petrols wherever available.
(II) Vital Rubber Parts
1) The same logic applies to items such as Radiator Rubber Hoses, drive-belts
and the like – A/C and Brake hoses excluded. It’s advisable
to change these once every 3 years or so, depending on the degree of ‘deterioration’
by way of cracking and swelling visible.
(III) External
Engine Hardware
1) Items related to ‘Engine tune’ activities can follow the
recommended ‘mileage’ schedule. For example –
2) Air Filter Clean
every 2500km and Replace/20000km.
3) Fuel Filter/Injectors/Throttle
Body - clean/7500km.
4) Sparkplugs clean/reset/replace
- 10000/20000/km respectively.
