On getting your car ‘Serviced’ – Part-I

Wheels/Tyres

(7) Rotate Road wheels as per owner’s/manufacturer’s instructions, taking care not to ‘Cross’ rotate Radial Tyres at this stage if so warranted.

(8) Check/Correct Tyre Pressures as per Manufacturer’s recommendations. ENSURE that the Stepney is ALSO inflated to 0.5kg/cm ABOVE the recommended pressure. If Wheel Alignment is on the Card, now proceed to do the same.

Road Test

(9) Road Test the Car for all functions, such as Engine/Suspension Brakes/Steering/ Electricals etc., carefully noting any Rattles. Take corrective measures and Road Test again to make sure that problems have been rectified.

Final Finishing/Delivery

(10) Proceed to top wash and ‘finish’ the Car for delivery, ensuring that ALL Glasses including the inside/outside mirrors are spotlessly clean.

(11) While delivering the Car to Customer it should be explained if required – any works that could not be done and Recommendations for other works, which in the Garage’s opinion need to be done at the earliest.

(12) Similarly, while the Job Card listed works are in progress and some unexpected development comes up by way of additional expense or delay, the Garage should contact the owner on phone and seek his clearance before executing the same.

In Part-II, we shall see what can the Owners do or ensure for ‘non-standard’ Servicing jobs.
