Fiesta |
| 1 |
The
Aveo manages to look larger than it actually is. This is hugely
in its favor, as a buyer would naturally want a bigger looking car
for lesser money. |
The
Fiesta does not entice at first glance as much as the Aveo does.
Also, Fiesta’s conventional styling is against its favor,
as opposed to the slick, masculine Aveo. |
| 2 |
The
appearance of the Aveo can aptly be called imposing, with its trapezoidal
headlamps, the deep-set grille and a powerful chin. The Aveo has
elite chrome handles and alloy wheels that contribute to enhancing
its looks. |
The
headlights on the Fiesta are mounted higher up and the mesh grille
projects outwards. These make the car look very good, but still
it can hardly be described as extraordinarily eye-catching. |
| 3 |
The
Aveo disappoints with its chassis, with it uttering a slight but
distinct creak over bad roads. |
The
Fiesta definitely has an edge over the Aveo as far as the chassis
is concerned. The chassis on this one feels extremely solid and
sturdy, and it’s a miracle if a bump gets through. |
| 4 |
The
Aveo’s interiors are fiercely elegant, with the two-tone dash
rendering a more expensive ambience to the car. The dashboard looks
great too, but needs some more work, ergonomically. The lighter
colour scheme of the interiors make the insides feel roomier, but
the beige fabrics have the possibility of easily acquiring a stain.
|
The
interiors of the Fiesta, like the outside, are not visually remarkable.
Although decent, it uses a lustrous fabric which brings down the
Fiesta down on the cool quotient. The dashboard is also strictly
okay. But having said that, it has more space and is ergonomically
sound with solid knobs. |
| 5 |
The
thin door pockets only look good, but are pretty much incapable
of holding anything mentionable. |
The
door pockets on the Fiesta not only look good, but are also large
enough to store quite a few things. |
|
| 6 |
At
first impression, the Aveo’s front seats seem like God’s
gift. But, a long drive proves that they are in fact, too soft,
and offer little resistance to the back and thigh. Exactly opposing
the Fiesta, the rear seats on the Aveo are high and the backrest
too reclined. |
Although
the Fiesta’s seats are slightly narrower than the Aveo’s,
they offer good lower back and thigh support. The back seats are
lower, and the backrest, a tad too upright for the rear passenger’s
liking. |
| 7 |
The
Aveo isn’t the best car to choose for safety, but at least
it has front airbags. |
The
Ford hasn’t even provided airbags for safety. |
| 8 |
The
Aveo’s engines are not as quick or responsive as the Fiesta’s.
They are definitely strong, but lack the Ford’s spark. |
The
Fiesta’s engines are delightful, and their response is lightening
quick. Also, the beauty of gearshift makes a drive in the city almost
effortless. |
| 9 |
A
ride in the Aveo is a good experience, but it gets easily excited
on poor roads. Hard braking tends to make the brakes fade a little.
|
A
ride in the Fiesta is an awesome experience, if you overlook a stray
bump and noise that makes its way through to the passengers. |
| 10 |
The
Aveo is more expensive than the Fiesta, but with the extra money
comes more equipment. |
The
Fiesta means less money, but no equipment like air bags, for instance. |
| 11 |
Thinking
long term, the Aveo is cheaper because of cheaper spare parts. |
In
contrast, the Ford is much more expensive to handle, with the servicing
not being a very good bargain for the bucks you have to cough up. |
| 12 |
A
7 /10 is Autocar India’s verdict, and considering all the
aspects, not an unfair rating. |
With
a high 8 / 10, Autocar India seems to say, ‘Go ahead, go Fida!’. |
