From the Outside
Though based on the same V platform as the Micra, the Sunny is a completely new offering from Nissan a quick glance at the profile of the Sunny and you will note delicate lines all around the car that gives it a mild touch of grace for a car that is so large.
Dimension wise, at 4425mm in length, the Sunny is longer than the City, Dzire, Vento, Verna and even the Manza.
The design of the car has a good balance between aggression and elegance; but it is the rear that makes the car look slightly disproportionate. The rear is bulbous and looks extremely bland with the triangular tail lamps and the Nissan logo just above the license plate.
The Nissan Sunny will be sold in six different colors. The XE and XL versions come with 185/70 R14 tyres while the higher XV grade comes with 185/65 R15 tyres mounted on smart looking alloy wheels.
In effect, the Nissan Sunny has turned out to be a car that is delightful to behold from certain angles only, but the overall turnout is still classy rather than common.
On the Inside
Spacious and airy, the top end model is loaded to the brim with features like keyless entry, keyless start-stop, steering controls, electrically operated outside rear view mirrors, twin airbags, ABS, audio system (without USB), auto AC, rear fan vents for the passengers. Under the Hood
The Sunny is loaded with an all-new 1.5-litre HR15DE unit that produces class leading power as well as torque. At 99PS, there is no dearth of performance and with 134Nm of torque on avail, the Sunny doesn’t feel underpowered with even four on board with their luggage.
At an ARAI rated 16.95kmpl, the Sunny is also more efficient that other sedans like Manza, Vento, SX4, City and Linea.
In Conclusion
The Sunny looks pleasant, excels in the comfort factor with class leading space and a good ride. The engine is potent yet efficient and the overall experience with the car makes you feel that it is from a segment above. Even the base XE model that has been priced at Rs 5.78 lakh comes with features like power steering, manual air-con, drive computer, ABS and a driver air-bag.
