 With its new Panamera, Porsche has set out to prove that one can have room for four adults, four doors and full-fledged supercar performance at the same time. Autocar (May ’09) take s a sneak preview.
The new Panamera is very unlike your average four-door family cars under the skin. The car sits really low and its super wide, looking every inch a purpose-built rocket. It’s a car that makes you go hmm, wow, awesome, until you see the rear, which just does not gel with the rest of the body, whichever angle you look at it from.
 The next shock but a pleasant one are the interiors. As plush as a Bentley – the rear passengers get bucket seats almost identical to those in the front and the full length central console gives it a very sporty, almost cockpit like feel.
Overall, the Panamera’s objectives are pretty clear. Raw speed, four doors and very goof fuel economy too. The dual-clutch gearbox, for example, is programmed to shift up as early as 2000rpm in ‘Normal’ driving mode and Porsche has added similar gains together to make a big difference.
Overall Porsche promises comfort for four plus luggage and sports car performance in a single package….expect a full story when AutoCar drives the car…
