Behold the first Indian crossover - ‘a luxurious creation with the finesse of a sedan and the muscle of an SUV’. With a host of comfort and safety features, the Tata Aria extends itself to new segments and has redefined several benchmarks with its design and technologies. Moreover it has slashed its price considerably…thus positioning the Aria at an advantage.
From the Outside
The Aria’s styling is bold, neat and uncluttered. The angular, wrap-around dual-barrel headlamp with projector beam and the signature Tata grille is reminiscent of the Vista and Manza giving the Aria an aggressive look. Chrome detailing on the sides accentuate its premium class.
On the Inside
The interiors reflect the same richness and elegance in design, layout, and visual appeal. Passengers can simply walk into the Aria thanks to the low-floor design and as expected with a Tata, passengers have acres of head, leg and shoulder space. All seats, except the driver's, can be flat-folded, giving you lots of luggage space too.
It is the first in its segment with an in-dash GPS-based navigation system and provides real-time information about fuel-consumption, distance to empty, engine performance and other critical data. Tiltable steering, power mirrors, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate control, glove box chiller, height-adjustable driver's seat are all comfort features for the driver. The Aria 4X2 lacks Satellite Navigation system and reverse guide camera, but has the Ultrasonic Reverse Guide System instead.
Tata had taken safety to new heights with the Aria 4X4 with features that only vehicles over Rs 30 lakh can boast of. It is among those rare cars in India to offer advanced safety features ESP, ABS and six airbags. Passive features include Hydroformed chassis members that enhance strength and rigidity with reduced weight, crumple zones, side impact beams within doors, collapsible steering, auto door unlock during accidents et al.
Under the Hood
The crossover is powered by a 2.2-litre Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine with variable turbine technology and 32-bit ECU, that produces around 140 horsepower and 320Nm torque. The new Mark II gearbox is perfectly mated to the engine, ensuring slicker shifting. Also the selectable 4x4 is equipped with a torque-on-demand system which significantly enhances all-terrain capabilities...
Even on damaged roads the Aria is capable of dampening the harshness of ruts, potholes and small speed breakers… thanks to the precise steering response, tremendous braking and laudable cornering capabilities.
In Summary
The Tata Aria is available in three trim variants — the Aria Pride at the top end, the Aria Prestige and the Aria Pleasure, each in eight colour options. The Tata Aria is being made available, to begin with, in 25 cities through 69 dealerships.
