Dilip
has been Chief Test Rider and Road Test Editor of MotorIndia Magazine
and has the unique privilege of test riding almost every two-wheeler
available in the country today. Every two wheeler has been personally
tested by him for at least 2500 kms each. This includes highway riding
between cities - mostly on roads between Mumbai and Goa, and in-city
riding in Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Karad, Belgaum, Satara, Panjim and
the whole of Goa. Also apart from the above cities in Mumbai-Goa belt,
he has ridden extensively in Bareilly, Lucknow, Gorakhpur (U.P), Jamshedpur
(Bihar) and also in Madras (where he bought his first bike), Delhi and
Calcutta. He can therefore claim to have a fairly good idea of the road
and traffic conditions in all these cities and their mofussils.
Dilip has owned and ridden many foreign bikes in Singapore and Malasia
for many years while he was working there and has participated in Dirt-Track
races in Singapore. Also as Senior Export Executive for TELCO for six
years, it was his job to intimately know the traffic and road conditions
of the foreign countries where he was selling TATA trucks and buses.
He thus understands very well what 'Indian Conditions' mean.
Dilip is a graduate Mechanical Engineer of the University of Roorkee
and an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He is also an Associate of the Institution
of Mechanical Engineers of U.K., a Corporate Member of the Institute
of Industrial Engineers, USA as well as a Chartered Engineer and Member
of the Institution of Engineers, India
He is also a visiting faculty at B.I.T.S., Pilani, one of the premier
technical universities in India and educates students at few Management
Institutes in Pune.
