Dr. Pasricha Answers : Yes, you have to pay the road tax in the new State where your vehicle is being registered. However, you are entitled to refund from your old R.T.O.

ADESAI's query :I've just got my transfer from b'lore to Pune. I have a two wheeler registered in Karnataka. I paid road-tax in Karnataka which is from purchase date to LTT. I do not have NOC and I do not intend to stay in Pune for more than a year. Can I ride my bike as it is without paying road tax or without doing any formalities. If no, which formalities shall I need to complete? Thanks in advance!
Dr. Pasricha Answers : Since you are not going to stay in Pune for more than a year, you do not have to re-register your vehicle in Pune. However, you have to inform the R.T.O. in Pune and pay some nominal road tax for the period you intend to stay in Pune.

Dr. Pasricha Answers : You should immediately get the car transferred in your name at the place of purchase, which is a legal requirement. Thereafter, you should obtain N.O.C. from the present R.T.O and re-register you vehicle in Calicut.
