Sam Dev's query :My driving licence has expired. I had made it from Orissa. Can I renew my licence here in Delhi? If yes what are the procedures and formalities for doing same.
Dr. Pasricha Answers : Indiacar.com apologises for the delay in reverting. You can have your license renewed anywhere in India. But if it has expired in the last five years there is a penalty of Rs. 100/-. If it is more than 5 years old it cannot be renewed and you will have to apply for a fresh license. Thank You

Dr. Pasricha Answers : Indiacar apologises for the delay in reverting. The paid driver is directly responsible as per the Law of the Motor Vehicles Act and will be prosecuted. Also a case can be filed on the owner of the vehicle for claiming compensation for vicarious responsibility under the Motor Act Tribunal. But here the main person responsible will be the driver. Thank You

Dr. Pasricha Answers : Indiacar apologises for the delaying in replying as Dr.Pasricha was out of town. Normally the procedure for a person applying for a license after the age of 50, you need to undergo a FITNESS TEST and provide a Medically Fit Certificate for acquiring a License. Anil Kansara's query :How many countries accept Indian Driving Licence as valid for driving ?

sameer devgan's query : I carry a set of duplicate registration\insurance papers in my car , the logic being if the car gets stolen, the originals will still be with me. Question : is this correct or do I need to carry all originals in the car ? Next question : In a transferrable job every two years, how practical is it is to get registration, number plates changed from state to state ? Why can't a simpler system be devised ? Thanks & Regards Sameer
Dr. Pasricha Answers : Indiacar apologises for the delay in replying as Dr.Pasricha was out of town. You need to carry the Xerox copies of the relevant papers supposed to be in the car but they need to be duly attested by a recognised Gazetted Officer. However, you are required to carry the Driving Licence and the P.U.C. Certificate in original. Whereas your query of the number plates to be changed state to state, it is a Government Regulation and it cannot be changed and one has to comply with it. Thank You
