SANJAY KUAMR's
query : One of your reply was -
"If you proposed to stay more than three months but less than one year you have to inform your new RTO and pay some certain road taxes."
But for the similar case, the Agents at RTO Delhi and Pune are not entertaining "Temporary NOC". Is this provision abolished now ?
Should I inform RTO,Pune on my own ?
But I don't have NOC from Delhi. Pl. advise.

Dr. Pasricha
Answers : For the period less than a year, you do not require any N.O.C., since the vehicle is not required to be re-registered. It is just sufficient to inform the R.T.O. in whose jurisdiction you propose to ply the vehicle for a period exceeding three months, but less than a year.

How long can we use the vehicle on road with temp reg no:?!!
What is to be done incase the permenent registeration of the vehicle can only be done after 2 months of delivery from showroom?! I've booked a fancy no for my car and so the particlular no will be issued only when the issued nos reach within -50 of the reg number I booked! I've paid the Life time road Tax already to avoid any issues with cops. Am from kerala. Pl advise.
Thanks in advance
Chikku babu.

Dr. Pasricha
Answers : The temporary registration number is valid for se days from the date of taking delivery. You must apply wit seven days with all the documents and there is no reason why the vehicle should not be registered as required by law. I cannot comment on some fancy or a particular number. No advice.

SUNIL DAGA's
query : Respected Sir,
I am modifying the exteriors of a car without making any change to its mechanicals. Do I have to get any clearances rom any dept. If yes then which, what is the procedure and chares. Waiting for your reply. Thanks
|
Dr. Pasricha
Answers : Any alteration which goes against the spirit of particulars given in the registration book requires permission of the R.T.O. under section 52 of Motor Vehicles Act. Since you are likely to play with the body of the ca will amount to that change since it can jeopardize the safe because the dynamics of the vehicle would change. You must obtain permission from your R.T.O.

query : I had puchased a second hand 2000 model Santro Zipdrive in Bangalore in May 2006. The lifetime tax is already paid for this car. I was transferred to Mumbai recently. Since I have a permanent residence in Pune, I took a NOC for Pune RTO. Is it possible for me to drive this car in both Mumbai and Pune ? I am not sure about my duration of stay in Mumbai. It may or may not extend 1 year.
|
Dr. Pasricha
Answers : You can drive your vehicle throughout Maharashtra on your Pune number plate for any period you want. However, if you want to drive your vehicle outside Maharashtra State for a period exceeding one year, you would be required to re-register the vehicle in the new State.

MANPREET SINGH VIRDI's
query : Sat Sri Akal,
Recently purchased a 1999 santro. would like to know what all papers i need to take from the owner. Also I want to convert the car to LPG. Should i transfer to my name the papers before the conversion or later?
|
Dr. Pasricha
Answers : You should get the prescribed form duly signed by the seller and you will also have to fill up and sign certain forms. You must take the registration book, tax payment certificate and at least third-party insurance certificate, if he is not willing to transfer the comprehensive insurance in your name. You should also have a P.U.C. certificate. You must make sure that the engine and chassis number embossed on vehicle's engine are the same as indicated in the registration book. It is always advisable to buy a vehicle from authorized agents only, so as to minimize chances of cheating.
