SUNIL KUMAR's
query :Dear Sir,
I have started driving
car recently in chennai. Most of the traffic signal light doesn't have numbering system and it is very difficult the driver to stop the vehicle when the light change from green to red. some cross roads are very wide and the driver could not cross the signal before red come and two times I was cought by the police. I didn't applied the sudden brake to avoid a front back collission. what will be the safest action in such situation.

Dr. Pasricha
Answers : There is supposed to be an inter-green time, generally of 4-5 seconds, between the red and green lights. It is done to ensure that there is no conflict even if someone jumps the light or speeds up through amber. The law requires that the moment amber light appears you should try to stop if you can. If you cannot stop being at high speed, then, you must ensure that you pass through the junction by the time red light appears.

I have shifted from Gujarat to Navu Mumbai, I got NOC from RTO-Gujarat.1)Can I carry my same RTO no. in navi mumbai? If No than within what time I need to change no.? What is formalities to be done including taxes. My bike is 13 monhts old and I have paid lifetime roadtax in Gujarat.

Dr. Pasricha
Answers : Since you have shifted from Gujarat to Maharashtra, you have to re-register
your vehicle and obtain a new registration number within a period not
exceeding one year. You will have to pay lifetime road tax again, but you
can claim reimbursement from your R.T.O. in Gujarat. You will also have to pay octroi tax. After 15 months, the entry tax does not apply.

Dr. Pasricha
Answers : You should always purchase a vehicle from an authorised agent of repute. You should also get the engine and chassis number matched with the registration book by physical inspection. Before checking these numbers embossed on the vehicle, acetone solution should be used. It will ensure that if some one has forged the numbers with chemicals, the latter will get washed and the original numbers will reappear.

Dr. Pasricha
Answers : If you are going to use your vehicle outside the State where it is originally registered for a period of more than a year, you have to re-register the vehicle as per the law. You should obtain an N.O.C. from the R.T.O. in Tamil Nadu and then physically produce the vehicle before the R.T.O. in Bangalore along with N.O.C., Registration Book, taxation, insurance papers and P.U.C. certificate. Only then, the R.T.O. in Bangalore will register your vehicle.

Answers : You can take your vehicle outside Pune to anywhere in the country if you are going to ply it for less than 3 months. You may like to carry a few petrol payment receipts of the immediate previous period to prove your bonafide. You must carry all documents and driving licence as well as P.U.C. certificate in original.

M's
query :Hi, I sold my car to a dealer. He gave my a small RTO note that he bought the car. He then sold the car to someone. The dealer has lost the documents related to the buyer address etc.. From RTO Mumbai on enquiry, I got the information that the NOC is issued to RTO Nashik on some other person's name. And as per the records of RTO Mumbai, the regd. owner of the car is still myself. Is my liability over now? If not, what should I do in such a case to protect myself.
|
|
Dr. Pasricha
Answers : Since the documents of transfer have not been signed by you, the car continues to be in your name. Naturally, all the liabilities, especially if this car is misused for some crime, will be on you. You must inform the R.T.O. immediately about the facts.
